San Diego

I write to you from sunny San Diego although I haven’t seen the sun today. Since we returned from our holiday trip to Brasil we have been calling San Diego home. We have gone cross country with the van and we would rank Bend, Oregon and San Diego, California the top “van friendly” locations in the United States.

Van living in San Diego is a lot different than our time spent on public land and out in the middle of nowhere. We are a part of the lively, hustle and bustle of the city. There’s always something going on, sounds to be heard, and people to see but this city has made it really manageable to live in our van here. Aside from the hundreds of rigs we see everyday, there are safe and designated parking lots that are always filled with nomads. Although we work remotely, some of our nomad friends have jobs in the city. When this happens it really feels like you are a part of that place. This is how we feel when we work our summer seasonal jobs in Colorado. We work, play, and live here!

However our way of living looks a little different than the majority. During our time in San Diego we have enjoyed the numerous parks, beaches, and restaurants this city has to offer. We are never too far from the ocean and sometimes the Pacific is our backyard!!

Our van is a ‘09 144” Dodge Sprinter and it’s just the perfect size to maneuver in and out of parking lots and small streets. We also have great privacy thanks to Living in a Bubble window covers. Even when there is a lot going on outside we can make our tiny home feel safe and cozy.

For the next 3 weeks we want to share with you some of your favorite spots to eat, catch the sunset, swim, and skate!

We will share our favorite San Diego camp spot if you sign up for our email newsletter !
